Stonehaugh Community Hall was completed and initially opened in November 2009 following 10 years of fund raising. The new Community Hall has been match funded by Northern Rock, Tynedale Council, Awards for All, and the Government Office for the North East.
The Hall was officially opened in March 2010 by Kathryn Tickell a renowned musician and former Stonehaugh resident.
Now complete, occupied and enjoyed by many, the Community Hall provides a focal point for village life and a centre that underpins community groups within the village and surrounding areas.
The building also provides a venue for groups and organisations within the North Tyne area. Students of Newcastle University School of Architecture worked with Kielder Art & Architcture and the Stonehaugh village residents to design and build a new stargazing pavilion and nature watch. Started as part of Kielder Art & Architecture's Testing Ground programme, the students worked with the community from autumn 2012, first presenting their recycling project 'Superuse', and subsequently developing designs for a stargazing pavilion to be the focus for Stonehaugh's Dark Sky Discovery Site. The project was finished in late May 2014 and officially launched on July 9th
